Saturday November 7th (3hrs) Workshop

from $330.00
Limit 1 per order

This 3-hour workshop is a great intro to experiencing the breadth of possibilities with clay. Enjoy an introduction to  two contrasting clay methods.  First, take the potter's wheel for a spin! Then, change speeds completely and relax into a slab project at the table.

First Activity:

What you’ve all been expecting: wheel-throwing. Fast, fun and messy! Emphasis is on the experiential aspect of this activity, as a resulting product is not guaranteed. Successful pieces are seen through to completion.

In this lesson, we start with the basics: Centering clay on the wheel, opening the form, pulling up the wall, and shaping your form. It’s like magic.

Second Activity:

Make a slab-built dish with impressed decorations and added foot. This piece is draped over a plaster mold for shaping. Successful results are assured, don’t you worry! We have many stamps, rollers and textures to express yourself with, allowing you to design a piece that is uniquely yours. Try making a coiled foot, or a few individual button feet. Join this base to your form using slip and score technique. There will be an emphasis on smoothly finishing your joins and edges for the most polished and successful results.

Finishing your pieces:

As a participant, you are shown different glaze colours to choose from. We take loving care of your creations after you leave. Our job is to smooth and trim your pieces, apply your chosen glazes, and fire to a beautiful finish. Everything is ready for pick-up three to four weeks after the event.

  • This private instruction in both wheel-throwing and hand-building is perfect for beginners who want focused attention, or experienced potters who want to refine their skills. Spend 3 hours with an expert.

  • Customize your workshop! Suitable also for more experienced intermediate potters who wish to brush up on specific skills.

  • 3 hour private session

  • All materials and firing included

  • Flexible Scheduling. We usually book on Saturdays, but can also work with your schedule.

  • Private one-to-one session

  • Workshop for 2 - 12 people

  • All fired work is dishwasher and microwave safe

Dress code:
