CAITLIN ANDREWS

For the past 10 years, I've been working with clay, developing my skill and aesthetic. My training has been informal, though I have had the opportunity to learn from several professional potters.

Over the years, my studio space grew and I signed up for workshops on glaze development, large-scale throwing, raku, woodfiring and gas firing. My library of ceramic reference books grew and I challenged myself to replicate vessels for serving, pouring and storing.

My husband and I moved back to North Bay in early 2019, bought a home and started work on the kiln shed. Since the kiln is quite old (and not CSA certified) it required special electrical and gas approvals prior to the first firing.

My goals are to develop a line of production pottery and continue to tinker with glazes. I also plan on collecting raw materials to create surfaces that are specific to the local geology of northern Ontario.

And as always, I am striving to be a more proficient potter, expanding and deepening my abilities in the craft.
